Biography

Garland was born on December 31, 1919 in Brandon, Hill County, Texas. He was the son of Andrew Jackson Hewett and Willena (Allen) Hewett. In the 1950 US Census, Garland was listed as an oiler on the Oil Mill. He married Doris Marie (Ribble) Smith (1924-2016) on October 19, 1951 in Hill County, Texas. They had one child together;

Garland was employed by Convair in Fort Worth, Texas.

Garland died on December 3, 1954 at the hospital in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas at the age of 34 years just 28 days short of 35 years. Cause of death was a heart attack. He was buried on December 4, 1954 at the Ridge Park Cemetery located in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas.
