Hi Sheree.

Some of the Find A Grave memorials that you are using have no information as to where those people are buried, therefore, they cannot be used as Pre-1700 sources. Please look over Dave's post below about proper sourcing.

Thanks!

John

Hi Sheree,

Thank you for your contributions to WikiTree.

I see that you have been creating pre-1700 profiles using an unsourced family tree as the source. This is not considered an acceptable source for pre-1700 profiles. Our community standard is that all pre-1700 profiles require at least one reliable source be cited in order to proceed with creation. A reliable source provides sufficient information for another researcher to find and confirm your research and is generally a primary or secondary source. Please see Help citing pre-1700 profiles for help with this.

Please do not create new pre-1700 profiles without reliable sources. You can always ask for help to verify your sources, or to find some, on the G2G forum.

Do not hesitate to ask if you would like more information. WikiTree volunteers are always happy to help.

Thanks!

My tree, I have been which I have been working on off & on for over 20 yrs, I believe is much Is much more inclusive- many of the problems I see have come from mistakes which were goobled from my early errors based Virginia Branches vs NC Branches which were reinvented by many dreamers. My tree which I'm still working on & due changes. I in 19 Family Tree Maker & Ancestry is availalably, but not in Wiki Tree where is being used not acceptable, because I don't know how to put it on & no help, also Ancestry has changed there system to keep thing fouled up.

Hi Sheree,

Please remember that as part of our Honor code, we cite sources. There are a number of profiles that you created with only a comment "work in progress". Please make sure to go back and add your sources to those profiles.

Thanks Robin. I am working on it. When I finish there will be plenty of sources. Thanks.

Hi Sheree,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Debi

Hi Sheree

Thanks  for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz. As Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within a project is essential

Please ensure a location is entered on all profiles and data matches dates of profile. Avoid abbreviations as these can mean different things or location around the world, add sources with citations & links for sources to support the data. From wiki ID go to Research to find sources

The United States Project and its sub projects for each state, would be of interest. Adding the tag UNITED_STATES will connect you  Follow this link for your Tags:   your tags

Explore Pre-1700 Projects list to find one that fits your research focus.

Questions ask Here  To contact me, be sure to use the "reply" link for this comment so that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment, on my profile page.

PS Links not working, click them in your comment box on your profile page

Thank you for signing the Honor Code, Sheree!

As a recommendation, you may want to edit your tags to show the regions where you are researching surnames. The clickable tags we follow and the comments we make about them at WikiTree help us collaborate with other members. Click the green tags on your top right of your profile page and see others following the same things you are researching. The more tags you add (20 max.) that include surnames, locations, periods of history or other genealogical interests, the more links to community research options you will have. This link may help you learn more about tags.

Tags should be single surnames, locations, or genealogical interests related to your family research. Comments should relate to why those tags interest you. Everyone does this a little differently but you can have a look at the tags on my profile to get an idea. Hope that helps!

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let me know by using the "reply" link under my comment, or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there, you can leave a comment, or send a private message.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
