Biography
John was born in 1834. He is the son of Samuel Hesser and Maria Slagle.
John was a Civil War soldier in Co. A of the 73rd Illinois Infantry. He was captured at the Battle of Chicamauga and spent nineteen months as a prisoner of war, mostly at Andersonville prison.
