Laurits was born on the 2nd of December 1874 to Kristian Henriksen Herum and Karen Augusta Larsen. He was baptised "Hagbart Lauritz" on January 17, 1875 in Christiania, Norway.[1][2]
In 1891, he is enumerated on the Norway Census as a single man[3]

He was employed as an Able Seaman on many voyages
He emigrated to New Zealand between 1891 and 1902 -more information is needed
Possibly in 1899, aboard the Talune from Sydney[4]
He was naturalised in New Zealand on the 2nd of July 1902[5]
He married Elizabeth Magnusen on 3 Jan 1903 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Port Chalmers, Otago, New Zealand[6][7]

Death
He passed away in 1933, aged 58 after a long painful illness.[8][9]
