records she made at Middle SpringPA cemetery. He r record gives John
Herron's second wife. Also note that John Herron's death date is given
as 9 Oct 1815 on the tombs tone. "part of my family is decended from the
Herron's an d this past Nov. I had the chance to go to visit the Middl e
Spring PA., church and cemetaries....The graves weren't t he exact branch
I was looking for but does turn out to be h is relations...My family
comes down the James Herron born i n Ireland...Anyway...we spent some
time cleaning the grave s and transcribing the tombstones of John
Herron...his tw o wifes...and a James Herron and Margaret. And I thought
yo u might like the info off of them...
Upper Middle Spring Cemetery(which is part of the church ya rd), has a
monument to soldiers that fought in the Rev. War ...James Herron is
listed on it as serving....
The graves are inscribed:
The one to the left of John:
In Memory of Ane Herron wife of John Herron, Esq.' who depa rted this
life the 5th day October 1815 in the 55th year o f her age
The middle one:
In Memory of John Herron Esq. who departed this life on 9t hOct. 1815 In
66th year of his age
The right one:
Sacred to the memory of Mary Herron daughter of James & Jan e Jack. &
wife of John Herron who departedthis life Jan. 2 8, 1808 Aged 55 years
Lower Middle Spring Cemetary:
Left grave:
In Memory Of James Herron, sen. r(the r was slightly raise d and was
underlined) who departed this life on the 24th o f April 1829 Aged 75
years
The grave on his right:
In Memory Of Margaret Herron consort of James Herron whode parted this
life on the 16 Sept. 1801 Aged 38 years
Also in the upper cemetary there were a few Jacks buried... .I took a
photo of Cynthia Jack....I didn't write down thou gh what was written on
the head stone ....although shewa s from Big Spring....
All five of the Herron graves are very large slabs of stone ...the one's
with John are about a foot and a half raised o n brickwork... James and
Margaret though are only about tw o bricks height off the ground....all
are in pretty sad sha pe...alot of the headstones are on there
sides...Mary's sla b is broken and a little rocky."
