Fred Herbold is Notable.

He was a head football coach for the University of Idaho and Oregon State University.

Son of Dr. John L Herbold and Mary Ann Luce

At age 4, as Fred D Campbell, he was living with his mother and stepfather in 1880 in Oregon City.[1]

He attended the University of Oregon, where he was a tackle on the 1896 football team.[2]

He graduated with a pharmacy degree from Purdue University in 1899.

His first head collegiate coaching position was at the University of Idaho in 1900. In 1902, he left to become head coach of the Oregon Agricultural College (later Oregon State University) Beavers in 1902.

He worked as a chemist for a mining company in Butte, Montana. He was planning to return to Corvallis as a coach, but got married instead.

He married Minnie Pope in Pocatello, Bannock, Idaho 31 Aug 1906.[3]

He was living in Forsyth, Montana in 1910 with Minnie.[4]

Fred passed away 9 May 1914 in Miles City, Montana.[5][6] He was buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Eugene, Oregon.[7]
