Biography
Mary (Henton) Blanks is a part of US Black heritage.
Mary Eliza was born in 1829 in North Carolina. She was likely brought to Texas along with her husband, Theodore Blanks, in the 1850's as slaves of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Ganahl, who settled in Center Point in the newly formed county of Kerr, Texas.
In 1870 Mary Eliza and Theodore were living in Kerr County with ten children in the household.[1]
In 1880 Mary Eliza and Theodore had 5 children still at home in Kerr County, Texas.[2]
In 1900 Mary Eliza and Theodore were still in Kerr County with two grandchildren. She was listed as the mother of 11 children, 9 of whom were still living.[3] She was widowed in 1903, and passed away herself in 1904 in Kerr County. She was buried in the Blanks Cemetery in Kerr County. [4]
