FUNERAL OF NELSON'S ELECTRICAL ENGINEER.
Amidst many manifestations of regret the remains of Mr. M. B. Henry, who up to his fatal accident was Electrical Engineer and Tramways Manager to the Nelson Corporation, were interred at Nelson Cemetery on Saturday. The cortege left the house at 11.30, and immediately preceding the hearse were the officials of the various departments of the Corporation. At the head were Supt. Graham and four members of the Fire Brigade, and following were Inspectors Hudson and Whiteside of the tramways, Drivers A. Sutcliffe, Dyson, Dean, R. Pollard, Blackburn, Spark, and Pickles, and Conductors Horsley, Craig, Everson, Monk, T. Pollard, Greenwood, and Callaghan, in uniform. Then came representatives of the Nelson Queen's Jubilee Lodge of Freemasons, etc.
The first carriage was occupied by Mrs. Henry, widow of the deceased gentleman; Mr. and Mrs. Henry, mother and father of the deceased; and Mrs. Woledge, of Plumstead, Kent, mother of Mrs. Henry.
In the second carriage there rode Miss Woledge, Mr. Holden, and the Rev. J. Roebuck, who also officiated at the graveside.
From cemetery chapel to the graveside the coffin, which was inscribed: “Murray Bolton Henry, died July 25th, 1906, aged 35 years,” was carried by three of the tramway drivers, Messrs. Pollard, Moore, and Dyson, and Conductor Horsley.[5]
There were a large number of floral tributes, including from the Mayor and Mayoress (Ald. and Mrs. Nelson).
