Hi Viki,

Thank you for your commitment to the England Project and its goals in 2023! Together we are making English WikiTree profiles the best they can be!

I'd like to share our end-of-year 2023 Newsletter. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading about what we have achieved in 2023!

On behalf of all the England Project Leaders, we wish you a peaceful, productive and enjoyable 2024!

Best wishes,

Joan, England Project Leader

Hi Vicki, thanks for your message. Some people don't like categories but I view categories as a signpost for helping profiles get found by others - they can offer clues for connections. There are so many profiles on WT that it may be many years before anyone else randomly looks at the profile you have created and sourced, whereas people often view location categories.

Other people living in that same location could be a person of interest to a mystery, and the same for those buried in the same cemetery - you would never find them otherwise if you don't know their name.

best wishes for your search

Hi again, you sent me a message about 2 months ago re my query on using Categories.

I have now become almost addicted about categories. I can see their use, and I love there are so many that can be used, I am still learning about them, and need to try to go back through profiles to add categories. Just came across your message whilst checking out my profile page, so thanks again and all the best for Christmas. Kind regards Vicki Heneker

Hi Vicki

Just new to this, but have found Joseph Francis to be my great, great grandfather. His son Herbert moved to Kalgoorlie and married Annie Allpress where they had 7 children. The youngest Victor Herbert Francis being my Grandfather. He had 2 sons Alan and Douglas and I’m the son of Alan.

From my research Herbert was the only child from Joseph to leave South Australia. The rest remained and died in SA. It appears he worked on the transcontinental railways.

Hope this adds to Joseph’s storyline.

Hi, Vicki

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Vicki,

Janet's off duty, so I am responding. Take your time and work on your twig of the tree as you learn your way around. Don't worry, the volunteering you have done is only to abide by our community guidelines and add profiles for your family. When you're ready to do more, I suggest taking a look at the Australia Project.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let us know by using the "reply" link under our comments or by clicking our names to visit our profiles. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.
