Chelda Marie Hell was born September 8, 1926 to Isadore and Olive (Meyer) Hell at Mt. Carmel, ND. She grew up and attended school near Mt. Carmel. On June 20, 1949, Chelda and Stanford Slama were married in Mt. Carmel. They made their home near Milton and farmed for many years. Chelda helped on the farm and also worked at Osnabrock Good Samaritan Center as a nurse’s aide and in the laundry department.
The most important thing to Chelda was her family. She showed her love by spoiling her kids and grandkids. She loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, especially Blitz, and spent lots of time gardening and tending to her flowers. Chelda was an active member of the Milton Hilltoppers Senior Center, Legion Auxiliary, and St. Clothilde’s Altar Society in Milton until its closing.
