Biography

Arthur Jerome Hedberg was born on 10 Jul 1929 in New Jersey, United States. He was the son of Arthur Julius Hedberg (1895-1976) and Mae Winifred Nelson (1900-1972).^[1]

The 1930 Census^[2] enumerated on 19 Apr 1930, shows him at age 9 months in the home of his parents in Dover, Morris County, New Jersey.

The 1940 Census^[3] shows him at age 10 in the home of his parents in New Canada Township, Ramsey County, Minnesota.

He attended the United States Naval Academy, graduating in 1952.^[4] The motto of the Class of '52 is "Tough Shoes to Fill." One of his roommates at The Academy in his upper class years was Chet McRorie, who remembered "Swede" fondly as "a great guy and a good friend." ^[5]

He served his country in both Korea and Vietnam as a Naval Aviator. He finished his Naval career with the rank of Commander.^{[6] [7]}

He married Mary Jean Dunn on 8 Aug 1956 in Coronado, San Diego County, California.^{[8] [9]} They had three children.

He died in 2017, and is buried at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, San Diego County, California.^[6]
