Joseph Heacock was born at Marple, Pennsylvania on the 31st of 3rd mo. 1722, according to the Quaker calendar (31 May 1722) and recorded in the family Bible.[1][2] He was the youngest child of Jonathan Heacock, Sr. and Ann Till.
He inherited his parents' land at Marple, Pennsylvania through the will of his father, Jonathan Heacock.[3]
Joseph was married to Hannah Massey in 1752 and they resided at Marple. Hannah died in 1762, leaving Joseph with the care of their children, Sarah, Mary, Phebe, and James, all under ten years old.[4]
In 1766, Joseph Heacock owned a half-interest in a saw-mill in Marple, after which date the Heacock name does not appear on the assessment-rolls until 1811, when Enoch Heacock was operating a saw-mill. After that year all trace of this mill disappears from the records.
Joseph Heacock died in 1774 at Marple. His estate was probated on 5 February 1774 and administered by Jesse Maris and Jonathan Heacock.[5]
