Mary Elizabeth Hayden Helms, of Charlotte, born July 6, 1941, died September 26, 2004. Much beloved wife and mother, she leaves a huge void in the lives of all she touched - and she touched so many. How do we remember her? So many names come to mind: Mary the Mom, Bunny party giver, Calvary Church member and hostess extraordinaire, a creator of happy memories for so many others. She was artist, aunt, and friend. Mary was the mother of three and grandmother of nine, Providence Plantation tennis and garden club member, and sister. She was the light and love of Kenneth's life. She fought courageously and ran her race well to the finish. And she finished singing a new song and rejoicing. She loves her Lord Jesus now face-to-face, who has taken her home in His perfect timing. We grieve here at her going, but we rejoice in her homecoming in the midst of our sorrow. How many lives has she touched? The Lord only knows, this side of heaven. She is rich beyond measure, and her treasures are the friends and family she blessed with her sweet smiles, kind words, and selfless deeds. We who were touched by her love rise up and call her blessed. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Friday, October 1, 2004, at Calvary Church, Charlotte. You are welcome to make a donation to ministries Mary loved and supported: www.caringbridge.org, www.hisinternational.org, and www.ncfamily.org. The Helms Family will be receiving friends and family at 'the farm' on Saturday, October 2. Drop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and dress casually.
