Sarah Elizabeth (Hawkins) Shouse was born on 24 March 1847 in Anderson County, Kentucky, United States, daughter of Smith Hawkins (1825–1920) and Margaret Jane (Barnes) Hawkins (1831–1905).[1]
Sarah (18) married George Samuel Shouse (20) on 27 September 1865 in Anderson County. Their children were:
- Thomas Smith Shouse (1867–1918)
- Cora Frances (Shouse) Brown (1872–1957)
- John W Shouse (1874–1878)
- Sylvester Vestis Shouse (1880–1962)

Sarah died on 10 July 1938 in Anderson County, aged 91. She was buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Shelby County, Kentucky.[1]
