He was allegedly born 1642/48[1] in Cheshire, England, the son of alleged "Richard" Hatton and Margaret Domville. Or was it his brother, Thomas on 14 Mar 1642/43 in London, Middlesex, England. Thomas, Secretary of Maryland under Gov Wm Stone[2] and Margaret MNU Hatton[3] was b. 12 Jul 1607 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England and d. 1655 by execution after the Battle of Severn (Age 47 years)]. There is some confusion/disagreement based on unsourced research abt the brothers, Thomas and Richard, and perhaps it was Richard whose son was named for his brother.

He may have been the youngest of eight born between abt 1631-1648 in Cheshire. He appears to have immigrated to St Marys MD after 1648 with his parents and siblings perhaps by his eldest brother, Capt William Hatton[1] or his father's brother, Thomas, Secretary of Maryland[2] under Gov William Stone who led the forces against the puritans.

He was award headright for four men on 13 July, 1663[4] for land called 'Hunting Neck' in St. Mary’s County.

He was taxable on 22 June 1663 for tract "West Hatton" on the West side of Wicomico River[5]

He married first to Elizabeth Waughop in Maryland, daughter of John Waughop.[6]. See Marshall for Unsourced alternative "Miss Johnson"

They allegedly produced Thomas Hatton III in St Mary's Co., Md who is said to have died 1701 in St Mary's Co., Md. He allegedly married Susanna Blakistone in Maryland, daughter of Nehemiah Blakiston and Elizabeth Gerrard.[7]

Following Elizabeth's death Bef. 1677 in Maryland.[7], he married second to a daughter of Randolph Hanson (bef.1636-bef.1699)[7]. See Marshall for Unsourced alternative "Elizabeth Goss"

He died after Jan 1675 in Maryland.[7] when he left a Will[8][9]

His estate administration was granted to Rando/Randall Hanson on 4 February 1675/76: Thomas Dent and William Hatton of St Marys County Gentt having renounced their right to administer.
