He married 1 Jul 1739 in St Martin-In-The-Fields, London, Westminster, England to Margaret Crandly.[1] [2]
He was mentioned as being "upwards of" 30 years old in a sworn deposition for his mother Ann, who was widowed and in a local Workhouse:
"Westminster to wit Anne Hassan aged 62 years in the Workhouse of and belonging to the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields, upon her oath saith she is the widow of James Hassan (who has been dead 22 years) was married to him in the ?? Chapoll 32 years ago by whom she hath two children (to wit) Hyde Hassan aged 32 years a Drummer in Flanders and George upward of 30 years a Carver & served his apprenticeship with Mr. Chisholm in Newport Street that her said Husband kept house in Orange Court in the parish of St. Martin in the Fields several years of 14 & Ann ?? and Died therein and thy Examt. kept the same one year after his Death and never kept any House Renter by the year paid any parish or hath been a yearly hired servant since."[3]
