Biography

Frank Harrison was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England.

Frank Tobias Lewis Harrison was born on 11 January 1865^[1]. He was the second son of Tobias Harrison and Ann Maria Brown.

Frank Harrison migrated from England to New Zealand.

When Frank was 9 years of age, he and his family emigrated from England to New Zealand aboard the ship Queen of the Age^[3]. The vessel sailed from Gravesend on 16 November 1873 bound for Auckland with 165 immigrants, and after a somewhat eventful voyage arrived at that port on 2 March 1874, making the passage under Captain Montgomerie in 105 days from Torbay.

He married Mereana Hikitapua on 8 December 1891 at Tuparoa, New Zealand. They went on to have about eight children:

Frank Tobias Lewis Harrison died on 18 October 1916 at Waipiro Bay, New Zealand when he was pinned down by a dray and suffered a broken back. He was 51 years of age. Reverend G.D. Wilson performed the last rites on 21 October 1916 at Taumatawhanui, Waipiro Bay, New Zealand.

Notice of his death was printed in Auckland Star, Volume XLVII, Issue 253, dated 23 October 1916, Page 12:

HARRISON.—On October 18, 1916, accidentally killed at Waipiro Bay, Frank, second son of T. Harrison, and dearly beloved brother of Mrs. Gallagher, of Parnell, and Mrs. W. Charlton, of John Street, Ponsonby; aged 51 years. Deeply mourned.^[4]
