Biography
Joan was born about 1530, the daughter of Nicholas Harris of Widmore.
In about 1549 she married Anthony Calthorpe.
In 1594 she was named in the will of her husband [1] and in 1598 she was a legatee in the will of her son Clement. [2]
Joan had her will drawn up on 4 Feb 1607/08. [3] She described herself as being a widow of Bromley, Kent and named:
- son Henry
- children of my late son Clement - Anthony, Mary, Judith, Elizabeth the elder and Elizabeth the younger
- Clement son of my son Clement
- my daughter Judith Higges
- my daughter Joan Dilkes
- Judith Bridges, daughter of Judith Higges
- Anthony and Ann Dilkes, children of my daughter Joan
- the two sons of my son Henry
- Anthony, son of my son Clement
- my cousin John Jermy
- Judith, daughter of my late son Clement, wife of Roger Gleydell
- Jane, daughter of my son Henry
She died before the 23 Feb 1608 when her will was probated.
