Biography

Samuel was born 28 Sept 1814. He was the son of Henry Harris and Elizabeth in England

On 26 March 1845 Samuel; who had been living in Melbourne married Elizabeth, the eldest daughter of Isaac Levey of lower George Street Sydney. They were married in the Sydney Synagogue by Isaacs Reader.^{[1] [2]}

On 27 July 1853 Samuel conducted a land transaction in Sydney.^[3]

He was 53 years old when he died. He was buried in Rookwood Cemetery, SECTION A ROW 3 In the Old Jewish script the Inscription on his tombstone is : ashes of Samuel Henry Harris. Died 28 Elul A.M. 5627. His was a life of honorable industry, crowned with affluence but for many years, marred by a cruel malady, which it broke his frame, was powerless to shake his resignation, or dim the light of his interlect. His world was his home, his joy in the happiness of his wife & children, whose smile was a balm to his suffering; and when called from their midst by his Maker, he obeyed as became a Son of Israel, with his last yearning for his family, his trust in God (Inscr on sandstone pedestal surmounted by classical urn covered by Cupola canopy with 4 fluted sandstone support columns) ^{[4] [5]}

NSW BDM HARRIS ELIZABETH Reg No:120/1892 Father:ISAAC Mother:DINAH at Sydney At the time of his demise, Samuel had four children survive him and four children pre-decease him. There were 2 codicles to his will and legal action was continuing in 1931.
