Gustaf Johan Hansson was born on September 19, 1822 in Ålem parish, Kalmar län, Sweden.
He married Britta Maria Persdotter (b. 1812) on June 1, 1845 in Mönsterås.[1] It was her second marriage.
Together they had (at least) tree children born in Mösterås parish:
There is a note that he had been accused of stealing a barrel of tar: "Anmäld att hafva stulit en tjärtunna på Timmernebben d. 3/3 1856". It does not say if he was convicted or not.[2]
The family lived at Gårö in Mösterås 1847-1863. They moved back to Ålem in 1863, where they owned property in Löfö nr 4.
He is noted as "vistas i Amerika sed[an] 1869, utan attest", living in the US since 1869, no (parish) pass, and having departed for the US in November 1869.[3]
His daughter Emma Gustava is already living there, and Carl Johan departs in 1869 and Erika Mathilda in 1871.
He passed away in 1896 in Little Sauk, Todd county, Minnesota, USA and in interred at Svea Lund Cemetery.[4]
