LaMay was born in 1910. She was the daughter of Douglas Hanson and Alma Slade. She passed away in 2004 and is buried near her parents and her husband in West Columbia, Texas [1]
For most of her adult life LaMay lived in East Lansing Michigan with her husband John Quincey Adamson. For several decades the Adamson's owned a summer home on Drummond Island Michigan, which she adored.
LaMay was an avid genealogist. In 1956 she published a family history, "Cherry Tree Notes" and, until his death in 1992, she collaborated with Harris Bateman on his series of booklets. Her nephew Smitty Smith, the profile manager of this site, has inherited a voluminous collection of research, letters, photos, documents, etc. on the Hansons, Slades, Weemses, Gilliams and related families linked to Brazoria County, Texas.[2] [3]
