Biography

Wilford was born on June 11 1899 in Aetna, Alberta.

His parents Ezra Hansen and Mary Neilsen were of Danish and Swedish descent respectively. He was third-generation L.D.S.

He attended Public School at Aetna and Agricultural School in Raymond and in Logan, Utah.

After farming for 25 years in Aetna, he spent two years in the building trades, then moved to Cardston where he was a machinery agent for 25 years.

He fondly remembered the peace and security of the old coal stove on the farm, loved horseback riding and the joy of finding new-born calves, colts and lambs.

He went on a L.D.S. mission to Eastern Canada between 1924 and 1926.

He married Alma Coombs in the Alberta Temple in 1929. They had three children, W. Bryce Hansen, Carol H. Wood, and Wilma H. Tagg.

On January 18, 1930 Wilford Hansen became the Authorized Representative for Harrah Manufacturing Company of Bloomfield, Indiana to sell the "Handyman Combination Tool".

His advice to the younger generations: "One is most fortunate who associates with ten friends who are 90% righteous. But one is unfortunate indeed if he chooses to adopt the 10% unrighteous. He could end up 100% wrong."

He passed away in 1985.
