Biography

Christian was born in 1812 Ugilt Parish in northern Jutland, Denmark. He was the son of Hans Willumsen (1780-1849) and Johanne Jensdatter born in 1779. He was baptized on June 10th. His confirmation was in 1829 in Lendum Kirke (church) at the age of 15.

On November 19, 1847 Christian married Gjertrud marie Nielsdatter at the Lendum Kirke in Lendum Parish. He was single and age 35 from Trøkemelle farm. Gjertrud was almost age 19, single, from Husborg place.

The 1850 census for Lendum Parish shows Christian and Gjertrud and his mother, Johanne Jensdatter age 71, retired and widowed, living with them. They also have two children they are caring for under the parish's poor system aka foster children. In the 1855 census at Lendum sogn, the couple now has two children of their own, grandmother Johanne is with them and one foster child. By 1860 the family is still at Trøkkevelle farm in Lendum parish. Christian and Gjertrud have three children and grandmother Johanne, now age 80.

Christian passed away on July 5, 1867, a farmer at Trøkkemelle, age 56. The cause of death was listed as "Tæring", Tuberculosis. He was buried at Lendum Kirkegaard (churchyard aka cemetery) on July 14, 1867.
