Biography

John was the son of John Hankins

He married

1. Mary Yeatman on 13 March, 1689 (1689/90) at Thornford, Dorset ^{[1] [2]}
2. Annever Joliffe ^[3]

His children included:

• Samuel, mentioned in John's will but baptism not found

The following, children may be his children. They were of a John and Mary Hankins were baptized at Thornford but are not mentioned in his will.

• John baptised 4 August 1691
• George 27 March 1694
• Farwell 16 March 1698 (1698/9) ^[4]

John Hankins wrote his will on 30 July 1724.

In his will he asked to be buried at Thornford near to his wife Mary. He made the following bequests

To his son Samuel all his lands, tenements and estates for the term of years still left on the leases

To his father John Hankins and his father's wife, mourning rings and to his father a plough mare and his wearing apparell

To his sister Shuttleworth a mourning ring

To his brother in law Robt Yeatman Gent a gold ring

To his brother in law Mr Donn, his cousin Palmer, gold rings

To his cousin Robt Yeatman a gold ring

To his nephews Francis Shuttleworth and Mr John Shuttleworth gold rings

To his niece Elizabeth Shuttleworth, £5 and a gold ring

To his nephew William Donn £10

To nephews George Shuttleworth and Digby Shuttleworth £10 each

To wife Anniver, a broad piece of gold and a gold ring

To the poor of Thornford, 20 shillings

the residue to his son Samuel who was made executot of the will.

Probate was granted in 1725 but there is not a burial entry for John in the Thornford register ^[5]
