with the rank of Private,[1][2] serving with Captain Shultz's 2nd Regiment, Regulars as well as Captain Wells' Company in Colonel Lawson's Regiment.[1]

Their acquaintance commenced in Harrison County in this state, just before, or about the time the last Indian deprevations were committed in that country.
The 1801 tax list of Harrison County, Virginia shows James "Hanlin" was a tythable man there and paid tax as the owner of two horses.[4]
His brother Patrick was living nearby with one horse.[5]
James "Hanlon" received his Revolutionary War pension in Virginia.[2]
Death, Burial & Legacy
He died 02 Feb 1829[1] in Harrison County[1] , Virginia - in what is now West Virginia (since it gained statehood on 20 Jun 1863, after James' lifetime).
The final account of the estate of James "Hanlin" was submitted on 04 Feb 1830 to Harrison County Court, Virginia.[6]
