Biography
James (Hamilton) Hamilton IIIrd of Raploch is a member of Clan Hamilton.
James was the son of William Hamilton, 2nd of Raploch[1] and Margareat Baillie.
He married Isobel Weir.[2] They had issue:
- Gavin Hamilton, 6th Laird of Raploch d. 28 Jun 1571
- Archibald Hamilton, 5th Laird of Raploch b. c 1505

- "On 10 June 1503 James, 2nd Lord Hamilton, granted precept of sasine to his bailies William Hamilton of Cander and John Hamilton his son and heir-apparent for infefting James Hamilton in Raploch and Isabel Weir his spouse in the granter's lands of Raploch. They were infeft in the lands 26 June following." and observes that this is the reference that places the descent of this branch of the family on firm ground.[1]
- James Hamilton of Raploch, who had a charter from George, Lord St John, Preceptor of Torfichen, of the Temple lands, called the Wairds, near Hamilton, dated 10th February 1517.[2]

Walter Hamilton of Darngaber BIRTH 1392 • Cadzow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, DEATH 20 MAY 1441 • Trabzon, Trabzon, Turkey and his descendants were descended from the Douglases and not the Hamiltons.
