Biography

Sarah (Hallett) Couper migrated from England to New Zealand.

Sarah was born in 1837. She was the daughter of James Hallett and Elizabeth Bartlett.

UK Census Date 1841: Living with her parents and sister Mary in Chinnock Hill, East Chinnock, Somerset, England. Aged 4.

At the age of 4 she emigrated from England to New Zealand with her parents and sister Mary, travelling on the ship Clifton, sailing from London on 2 October 1841 and arriving into Wellington on 17 February 1842.

She married William Couper in 1859.

They had at least 11 children.

Her husband passed away in 1903.

She passed away in 1916 at the age of 79.
