The 1870 census reports his name as 'Harris'.[4]
The attending physician was H. Reynolds.[3]
(He also attended his sister Sallie's birth.)
In 1870, Harris was living with his family, in ward 25, Philadelphia.[4]
Horace Haley died young.
He died on 20 March 1876, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of diphtheria. His sister Sallie died three days later. The funeral was held from their parents' house, 36 Kirkbride Street, Bridesburg, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On 25 March, they were buried in North Cedar Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, lot 377, section S, grave 4.[1][5][2]
'HALY.—On the 21st instant, HORACE, only son of Robert and Sarah A. Haly, aged 10 years, 1 month and 5 days. Also, on the 23d instant, SALLIE, youngest daughter, in the 8th year of her age.
'The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, this (Saturday) afternoon, at 1 o'clock, from their parents' residence, No. 36 Kirkbride street, Bridesburg. To proceed to North Cedar Hill Cemetery.'
