Biography

John Haden, Gentleman, was a gentleman farmer in Swinton, Yorkshire, who is confirmed as a gentleman in his modest Probate record of 1866. He was resident in Haden's House, a sizeable property, at the time of the 1861 Census. He was a beneficiary of the will of his late uncle and namesake John Haden, Gentleman, of Holywell House. In the Swinton entry in Drake's Directory of Rotherham 1862, he was described as 'Haden, Mr John', rather than under any occupational category.
