Biography
Abstracts of Deeds: Rowan Co NC 10:3 26 Oct 1784 William Haden to his dau Margaret Stockton for natural affection a negro girl Milly & negro boy Jeffrey. At her death they & their increase to be divided among her children. Tho. Frohock, Dugless Haden. Prvd Nov Ct 1784.
Margaret moved to Tennessee about 1804 with her grandchildren. She left a will dated, 12 September 1818, Giles County, Tennessee She stated that her son Benjamin Stockton, was to have five shillings if he ever applied for it. Her personal property was to be divided evenly among the children of Elizabeth Stockdon [her grandchildren] - David, Duglis H., William, Josiah, Maraget, Lucinda and Smith. A small hankie was also to be given to Marget Stockdon. Signed: Marget L. Stockdon Test: David Braiun, Zebulon Rainey, Sam'l Newton. It is obvious that she did not recognize her grandchildren born to Sarah Williams Hall in the bigamist marriages of her son.
