Lizzie's birth date is confirmed as 11 April 1856 by a written list, taken from the family bible. Her age is later misrepresented often. She stated that she was born in 1859 at the time of her marriage to Harry Webster and she continued to atate her age variously to census takers and governement officials throughout her life.

" Rena Webster was born in Canada but her mother was born in Enniskillen, Ireland. The record of her birth in the family bible shows a date of April 11, 1856. Her marriage certificate was later to record the year as 1859. We can only speculate on the source of the discrepancy. It may have been partly because she was marrying a younger man. Records show Harry Webster was born 1859. Baptized Elizabeth Jane Hadden, she was called Lizzie all her life. Lizzie's mother's family, the Elliotts, were farmers. Lizzie's father's family, the Haddens, were school masters." taken from Betty Complin's account of her family taken from family records and documents.

Lizzie came to Canada as a housemaid. She lived in with the family she worked for.
