When August Gustave Gunkel was born in March 1844 in Micheln, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, his father, Franz, was 27 and his mother, Johanne, was 21. He emigrated to the USA 20 July 1869 [1] married Henriette Marie Anna Noack on June 4, 1870. [2] They had four children during their marriage. [3] Became a naturalized US citizen in 1872. [4]
He died in 1930 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, at the age of 86, and was buried there. [5]
