Biography

Mary Catherine also known as O'Guin, and by her married surnames Hassell, Harrington, and Pressgrove, was born in 1827 in Williamson County, Tennessee. She moved, with her family, into Maury County (previously Williamson) and from there to Hickman County, Tennessee. She died in 1900 in Hickman County, Tennessee at the age of 72.

The Guinn family were in Culpeper Virginia in 1820 before Mary was born. Tax records^[1] first put the family in Tennessee in 1824 and 1836 and the 1840^[2] census record establishes them in Maury County, Tennessee. Mary is most likely the 'female 10-14' on that census.

In 1850^[3] she is living with her parents, siblings James and Martha, and her daughter Nancy, from an earlier marriage, most likely, to George Pressgrove.

The 1850 Census shows them living in Hickman, Tennessee and the household consists of: Benjamin Guinn 78 Catherine Guinn 50 James Guinn 25 Mary Guinn 23 Martha Guinn 16 Nancy Guinn 4
