Milton Grunauer was the son of Reuben Grunauer and Dillie Abrahams. He was born in 1899 in New York. He was a graduate of Columbia University and an instructor there in 1917. He enlisted in the army on August 8, 1917.^[1] His engagement to Bertha D. Roth, the daughter of Martin and Dora Roth, was announced on March 10, 1922 in "The American Hebrew". He married her on December 24, 1922.^[2] In the 1930 Census they have one son, Donald, who is three.
