Biography

Sarah Ann Grow was born in 1849 in Aylmer, Elgin, Ontario, Canada . She was the daughter of Joseph Grow and Mary Ann Nichol.

19 June 1866 Eli Silverthorn (age 23) married Sarah Grow (age 17) in Elgin, Ontario, Canada. ^[1]

Children: William Albert, Ensley, Leslie, Bertha May, Franklin, Clara.

1871 Canada census shows Sarah Ann Grow (age 21), her husband Ely Silverthorn (age28) and their children: William (age 3) and Ensley (age 1) are living in Malahide, Elgin, Ontario, Canada with Ely's parents George (age 72) and Elizabeth Silverthorn (age 68). ^[2]

1881 Canada census shows Sarah Ann Grow (age 31), her husband Eli Silverthorn (age 38) and their children: William A. (age 13), Ensley (age 11), Leslie (age 9), Beartie (age 6), Franklin (age 3), and Clara (age 1) living in Malahide, Elgin, Ontario, Canada with Eli's mother Elizabeth Silverthorn (age 79). Nationality: German, Religion: W Methodist^[3]

Sarah died at age 48 of meningitis on 19 May 1898 Brockway, St Clair, Michigan. ^{[4] [5]}

She is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Yale, St Clair, Michigan.^[6]

Research Notes

Marriage: Source states Sarah Armstrong on marriage register. This is incorrect. Family history ^[7] states Sarah was not previously married and since Sarah was 17 when she married Eli, it is unlikely she was married to someone before Eli.
