Louisa Mary Griffiths was born in about 1819 in Islington, Middlesex.
Louisa married George Christian in 1839 in Islington district.
By June 6th 1841, they were living in Godalming High Street.
By April 7th 1861, they were still in Godalming High Street. Both George and Louisa were described as chemists. There is no sign they had had any children. They had a young man working for them as an apprentice chemist, and a female servant. They had three visitors - William C Anderson, his wife Sophia, and two-year-old Herbert. Sophia (aged 25) was from Hackney, Middlesex so may possibly have been a relative of Louisa's.
By April 2nd 1871, they were still in Godalming. They had a different young man who was an assistant chemist, and the same female servant as ten years previously. George's occupation was given as dispensing chemist, and this time no occupation was recorded for Louisa, so her occupation of "chemist" in the previous census may very well have been an error.
Louisa died in July 1879, aged 60 (according to the burial records) or 59 (according to her gravestone), at her home in Godalming. She was buried on 25 Jul 1879 in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the consecrated section.
