Dorothy was the daughter of William Griffith and his first wife Jane Stradling.[1][2][3] She may have been born at Penrhyn, Caernarfonshire where her father had his main residence. Her birth date is not known, but her mother died before 1520:[1][2] it has been guesstimated as about 1515.
Dorothy married twice. Her first husband was William Williams, ref name="NEHGR"/> sometimes called William Wynn Williams.[1][2] They probably married in Caernarfonshire where both families lived. Their marriage date is not known. They had the following children:
William Williams died in 1557.[5] (The History of Parliament Online gives his death date as 1559,[6] but that is a confusion with his father.) Dorothy subsequently married Robert Wynn, who built the stately home of Plan Mawr, Conwy, Caernarfonshire.[1][2] They married by 1576.[7] There were no children from this second marriage.[1][2]
Robert Wynn died in 1598; Dorothy's own death date is not known, but her second husband married again, having seven children by this marriage,[7] so he must have remarried by 1590, and Dorothy must have died before then.
