Biography

Benjamin Clarence Griffith was born about 1873 in Haldimand, Ontario, Canada, son of John Clancy Griffith (~1846–1923) and Sarah McIsaac (~1848–>1921).^[1]

In 1881, Benjamin Griffith (age 8) was in Walpole, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada. His family was living next to his grandfather Benjamin L. Griffith's household. In the 1881 census his father John (age 35, Black Smith, married, was living with his wife Sarah (age 33), and four sons: Donald (10), Benjamin (8), John (6), and Wesley (1), in Walpole, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada. They had had an infant daughter Bella Jane pass away in 1878.^[1]

In 1891, Benjamin (age 18, tailor) was living with his father John Griffith (age 45, blacksmith), mother Sarah (age 43), and siblings: Donald (20, blacksmith), John J (16), Wesley (11), Landon (9), William (7), Colin (4), and Sadie (2), in the village of Hagersville, Haldimand, Ontario. ^[2]

Benj C Griffith (age 24, born Haldimand, taylor), son of John Griffith & Sarah, married Mary Peacock (age 26, born Oneida) on 26 January 1898 in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Wm Peacock and Catherine. Benjamin and Mary were residing in Rat Portage.^[3]

Benjamin may have died about June 2, 1947 in Ontario, aged about 73.
