Lilian Olivia de Carterst Griffin was born on 13 November 1889 in Hawera, Taranaki, New Zealand, daughter of Thomas Nicholas Griffin (1853–1924) and Lydia Augusta De Carteret (1852–1923).[1] [2]

Lilian (24) married John Edgar Hayman (26) (born on 6 February 1888 in Wheatstone, Ashburton, Canterbury, New Zealand; son of Walter Hayman and Mary Elizabeth (Frampton) Hayman) on 7 July 1914 in New Zealand.[3] Their children were:
Lilian died on 13 June 1966 in Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand, aged 76.[4] She was buried in Waimate Old Cemetery, Waimate, Waimate District, Canterbury, New Zealand (plot: Row 17, Plot 000160, Methodist).[2]
