Roland Gresham was an American jazz musician who taught guitar legend Jimi Hendrix. Roland also sang on stage with Etta James, and he once turned down a tour with Ray Charles because he preferred to stay home.
Roland Gresham was born in 1934. He was the son of David Gresham and Carrie Garrett.

Renowned jazz musician, the late Roland Gresham of Murfreesboro, told The Daily News Journal in 1998 he taught guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, who died in 1970.
Hendrix moved to Nashville in 1962 and scored a residency at Club Del Morocco with his band, The King Kasuals. During that time, he learned under Gresham's tutelage.
