He is a relationship therapist and in 1992 published the book best selling book "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus". He has sold millions of copies of his books.

He married secondly on 12 May 1985 in Santa Barbara County, California, USA to Bonnie Susan Josephson (1950-2018).

He married thirdly in 2020.
