Lucy Jane Gray was born on 8 Mar 1886 in Red Hill, South Australia, the daughter of Frank Gray and [Button-783|Fanny Wilson Button]] ^{[1] [2] [3]}

On 29 May 1905, in Bookabie, South Australia, Lucy gave birth to a son Laurence Oats Gray. No father was named on the birth registration, but maybe his surname was Oats. Some researchers have Frank Gray and Fanny Wilson Button as Laurence's parents, and maybe they brought him us as their son, but online registration sources are clear that Lucy was the mother, and not Fanny.

On 11 Dec 1907, in St. Augustine's Church, Streaky Bay, South Australia, Lucy married Robert Anderson Beattie, the son of John James Beattie and Louisa Ettridge. ^[4]
