Hi Valerie,

Thank you for all the work that you have done for the Scotland Project. As you have not responded to our recent check in messages I presume that you wish to leave the project.

If you'd like to re-join us in the future, you can do so by replying to our current G2G Welcome post which is linked from the project page at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Scotland

All the best Sheena

Hi Valerie,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hi Valerie,

It is once again time for our annual Ireland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

  1. If you would like to continue as an Ireland Project member. If your answer is yes, please tell us if you are happy with your current team, or if you would prefer to join a different one. If you are currently participating in more than one team we would appreciate you ranking them in their order of importance to you, from highest priority to lowest. This information will be helpful as we consider possible future changes to our team structure.
  2. In the past, the project has had a very minimal membership requirement (one contribution per year) for badged members to meet. Do you believe this is adequate, or should this requirement be increased? What do you believe would be a reasonable commitment to expect from all project members?
  3. How active have you been in the Ireland Project over the past year? Please choose one of the following options: a) I normally spend 1-5 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. b) I normally spend 6-10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. c) I spend over 10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. d) I am not able to contribute every month but have spent approximately ________ hours during the past year improving Irish profiles.
  4. Please provide feedback on any things you’d like to see the project do more of in the future.

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you no longer are able to participate in the Ireland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

Many thanks for all that so many of you have contributed to the project in the past year, and very special thanks to those who answered the project’s call and gave generously of their time to be part of Team Seanchaithe during the most recent connect-a-thon. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Valerie,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

  • If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Thank you Jen for reaching out to me. I admit I know nothing about the Ireland project and I joined because my maternal grandfather came from Ireland. So I have just been in limbo. What teams are you referring to? I haven't been active in anything Irish because I didn't know how. I don't know about Discord and I always go directly to the Wikitree website, so, I know nothing about the google group. I am serving a Family History mission for my Church which consumes a lot of my time and which leaves me little time to contribute, but I can try. Just let me know what I need to do - it would be appreciated. Valerie
Valerie, if you go to the main project page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland) at about the middle of the page you will see a list of the project's teams. All badged members are required to help on at least one team(s). By clicking on any team you will see the team page, which explains in more detail what that team does. If you are interested primarily in one of the county teams, this FAQ sheet may answer more of your questions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kEuTPjSNxltR3rKGRHkK29h7y_xFJBNu/view. Once you know which team you'd like to participate in, please let me know and I'll get you all set up.

I copied the URL in your reply and it came up - doesn't exist. So I can't find the teams for me to join. Could you send me the correct URL?
Jen, it's me - Valefrie Dall'Armi, I found the page, read the teams and I have no experience whatsoever to be of any help to any of the teams. Any suggestions as to how I can help?

Valerie

That is the URL for the main project page, and seems to be working just fine. However, you could go to the WT help page, search for 'projects' and then click on 'Ireland Project' from the list of geographical projects. Sorry, but I don't have a clue why the link is not working for you.

Hi Valerie! Happy 2022!

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

  • If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
  • How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
  • Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
  • Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
  • Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!

Sincerely, Amy Gilpin on behalf of the Scotland Project Leaders

Hi Valerie,

Thank you so much for all your contributions to WikiTree in the last six months, and especially to the Wales Project. It’s been wonderful to have you as part of the team as we work together to increase the quality and quantity of Welsh Profiles.

I have you down as being on the Anglesey Team here. Is this right? How are things going? Do you have any questions? What can we do to support you? Would you like to change any of your teams? Do you want to continue in the Wales Project moving forwards?

I hope to see you on Discord soon and look forward to hearing back from you with all the above.

Thanks once again,

Olivia, Project Coordinator for Wales :-)

I am SO sorry for not replying, but I didn't see this. I have gone back as far as I can in Anglesey for my grandfather William Morris. I have hit a roadblock and have no idea how to research back any further. I keep trying to check different counties to try to find connections, but no luck. I will just keep plugging along.

Valerie

Olivia - I am so sorry for not responding. I serve a mission in FamilySearch for my church and I am so busy with it that I am not spending the time on Wiki that I would like to. Every so often I log in to see what is new. I get my Wiki updates each day, so I keep up with that. I would love to give more time to Wiki and add more family, but it will be a while before I have that kind of time. I just wanted to let you know.

Valerie

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

Thank you for getting in touch. I am still trying to get the names of my 3rd greatgrandparents in Scotland so that I have a connection between my 2nd greatgrandfather in Canada and Scotland. To answer your question regarding google group or discord - I use neither. However, I would choose google group to receive communications from you. I haven't given much thought about my plans for Scotland research. I am so busy serving a family history mission for my Church that I haven't had much time to do my own research like I used to - sorry. I still check the wicki tree genealogy feed each day and that's about all I do nowadays. Sorry to let you down.
Thank you for checking in! You're certainly not letting us down, Valerie :) All your contributions are appreciated! I'll make sure you're added to the Google Group for Project Communications.

Hi Steve - as far as I know I don't do anything with cemeteries because I'm not able to walk very well. I don't know how I came to your attention - sorry I can't help.
Hello Valerie,

My name is Sarah and I’m the Project Coordinator for the Scotland Project. As you may have heard, we have merged the Scottish Clans project into the Scotland Project. I am contacting you today to find out if you are interested in continuing with us under this new format. If you would like to go forward on the Scottish Clans Team, please reply and let me know which clans you have been working on or would like to work on.I see you have previously expressed an interest in Clan Graham, would you like me to add you to that team? I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Sarah - sorry I don't respond to things but I don't know how to post comments or ask question. I definitely want to stay in the new Scotland project. I am the Graham clan - Inverness-shire AND Argyll if that's possible. I have been trying for 40 years to try and connect my great great grandfather John Graham back to Scotland which has been impossible. So that's why my interest in those 2 shires. Thank you for emailing me.
Hi. I’ve just taken on leadership of the Argyll Scotland team. I’m interested in what your interests are for Argyll and what you’d like the team to do. Please check out the project page and add your interests to your name. Also please request to be added to that page and we can use that as a planning base https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Scotland_-_Argyll_Team
Valerie --

Yes, I was told by someone the other day that the present manager of 93 is 'inactive' and not responding so this person is going to try to get things going so he can be manager of some of their other profiles and correct and/or update them etc so once that happens, I'm sure he'll change surname spelling and approve the merge ... I agree that yours is correct :)

Dallas

Dallas -Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I will get to it as soon as I can. I really appreciate your help.
Valerie - it's hard to explain but I also found 2 profiles for Phoebe's sister Sarah and different spellings for her surname so I created an "unmerged match" for Rowbotham-227 [yours] and Rubottom-93.

I suggested a merge for both Phoebes and I'm not sure where you see that but I thought that would make it easier?

Actually, there are dups for their parents as well -- yours and Rubottom-96 and Knowles-3737

Regards, Dallas

Hi Valerie,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The England Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
