The Beauties of Ireland, Vol 2, page 120: All the descendants of Oliver Grace, by his wife, Elizabeth Bryan, are, as founder's kin, entitled to a preference in the election of Fellows at All Souls' College, Oxford. In the "Stemmata Chichleana," No. 91, their descent may be deduced, through the families of Walsh, Sheffield, Vere, Trussel, and Kene, from Agnes Chichele, the grand daughter of William Chichele, who was youngest brother of Henry Chichele, Archbishop of Canterbury, and founder of that College, temp. Here lyes the body of Oliver Grace, late of Shanganagh, Esq., who departed this life on the 8th day of June, 1708, and in the 74th year of his age. Infra virtutes, sed supra conspice nomen; Concordant blando nomine facta viri. Integer atque pins, sponsae sobolique benignus, Candidus in cunctos, sponte remotus erat. According to Merchant Adventurer: The Story of W. R. Grace by Marquis James, pages 7-11, discussing the boyhood of Billy Grace (William Russell Grace, born May 10, 1832), son of James Grace and Eleanor Russell: Billy's first journey .. was by land to the Grace home in the hamlet of Ballylinan, Queen's County...The best of these houses was the residence of James Grace....In James Grace's father's time, a rich relative and neighbor, Richard Grace. M.P...Boley, homestead of the late Richard Grace, M.P., now in the hands of one of his sons....Just beyond Boley was the most notable estate in the district - Gracefield, the seat of the ancient family of Grace. When Billy was growing up, the widowed Mrs. Kavanagh, born a Grace, was mistress of Gracefield. [Alicia Grace, daughter of Michael Grace of Gracefield (d.1785) and wife of Morgan Kavanagh.] She had taken down the great mansion and replaced it with a smaller lodge...James Grace's great-grandfather had been born at the old mansion at Gracefield, but as the second son, he had not inherited the property. James Grace was born in 1798.
