Biography
Christopf Grabin migrated from Germany to Iowa.
The son of Johann Niclaus Beym Graben (1801-) and Anna Catharina Von Felden (1808-), Christopf Graben was born in Hanover, Germany[citation needed] in 1846. He migrated to the United States with his family in 1856, sailing out of Hamburg, Germany on September 1, 1856 aboard the S.S. Johanna Elise and arriving into the Port of New York.[1] His siblings included:

He moved west with his family to Iowa, settling in Jefferson Township, in Johnson County, where his father took up farming.[2] In 1870, Charles and his family lived Monroe Township, Iowa.[3]
Charles married Sarah (Barnes) Grabin, marrying in Johnson County, Iowa on September 27, 1871[4] and having five children together. In 1880, they lived in in Oxford Township, Iowa.[5] Charles and his family later moved to Iowa County, residing in Lincoln Township.[6][7][8][9] By 1920, Charles had retired from farming and he and his wife lived with their son, Will, in Warren Township, Iowa, in Poweshiek County.[10]
Charles Grabin passed away in Victor Township, Iowa[11] at the age of 75 and is buried at Victor Memorial Cemetery.[12]
