Biography

Epifania Governali, the daughter of Giovanni Governali and Biagia Grasso, who married in 1833, is born on 9 March 1836 in Corleone.^[1] She is named after her maternal grandmother.

Marriages

Epifania marries at least twice, first to Biagio di Miceli on 10 September 1854. Her father has died by this time.^[2]

Epifania remarries to Pasquale Governali, son of the late Bernardo Governali and Bernarda di Carlo, on 27 February 1859. This record calls Epifania, "Tufania." Her mother is still living at this time.^[3]

Epifania and Pasquale have at least two children:

• Bernardo (11 December 1859) - named after his paternal grandfather, marries second cousin, Maria Riina, about 1890, widowed at the time of his death in Manhattan in 1922
• Pasqua (1869) - marries Pietro Gagliano in November 1894. Epifania's first name is "Tufania" in the civil marriage record.^[4]
