Hello there. I have found WikiTree to be an invaluable resource for documentation and collaboration. I am a firm believer that if someone is trying to find information on their family it shouldn't be something that is unattainable because it is too expensive.

There are many people willing to share information on the internet, it's just difficult to find it let alone to find information that is correct. There are many members here that help to correct information which may be incorrect with documentation of which I highly value.

Hi,

Regarding Pereira-1022, I didn't change the date of birth, just normalized the birth location (from "Santa Maria Island, Pico, Azores" to "Santa Maria, Pico, Açores, Portugal").

I don't have to the source in the profile ("Huyck Cousins by Myra Manfrina pg. 87-u"). Now that I am looking at it again, if the original place name had "Santa Maria Island", the place should be normalized as "Pico, Santa Maria, Açores, Portugal" (if there is a "Pico" in the island of Santa Maria).

Hi, this may help your Azores genealogy... This population history research center has lots information about Azores:

http://www.ghp.ics.uminho.pt/ CITCEM - Centro de Investigação Transdisciplinar - Cultura Espaço e Memória / Grupo de História das Populações

Their researchers, based on vital records produced by the church, reconstructed the populations/families of many parishes:

Genealogical databases: http://www.ghp.ics.uminho.pt/genealogias.html

Publications: http://www.ghp.ics.uminho.pt/publicacoes.html

+ For instance, this 2004 PHD thesis, has a 750 page appendix with the births/marriages/deaths of Madalena, Pico, Azores (from 1664 to 1905):

Santos, Carlota. Biodemografia do concelho da Madalena: estrutura demográfica e genética de uma população açoriana da ilha do Pico: apêndice genealógico. https://repositorium.sdum.uminho.pt/bitstream/1822/6725/2/Doutoramento.pdf

Tha appendix: https://repositorium.sdum.uminho.pt/bitstream/1822/6725/1/ap%c3%aandice_geneal%c3%b3gico1.pdf

+ Repositório Genealógico Nacional: http://www.genealog.uminho.pt/Acores.htm

+ Database: S. João, Pico, Açores (has 362262 persons) http://www.ghp.ics.uminho.pt/geneweb/gwd.exe?b=sjoaointerilhas;lang=en

+ These books have lots of information about hundreds of Pico Island families (one book for each parish):

. Amorim, Maria Norberta. O Pico : Vol. I - As Famílias : As Famílias da Candelária nos Finais do século XIX. Câmara Municipal da Madalena/CITCEM, 2011. Vol I, Tomo X. https://repositorium.sdum.uminho.pt/handle/1822/18744

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
