Biography

Jacob was born 10 May 1820. bp. 30 Jul 1820, St Matthew's C/E, Windsor, NSW, (son of Isaac C GORRICK and Ann LISSON/BRADWELL). After marrying Elizabeth MASKEY in 1842 they set out for Maitland in the Hunter Valley.[1] A few years after settling there Jacob Took out the License for his first Hotel which he later leased to a chap that worked for him. He applied for and obtained another license for his 2nd hotel. Over the years Jacob qualified as a Solicitor and was a frequent defender & Prosecutor in the Courts at Maitland He passed away 22 Oct 1905 while in Newcastle, but the only information I can find so far says he was in King Street when he died. Buried: 24 Oct 1905, (Campbell's Hill,) Telarah Cemetery, NSW[2]


Jacob Gorrick was born on 10th May 1820 at Wilberforce, New South Wales (Australia). He was the son of Isaac Gorrick and Ann Lisson nee Bradwell. In 1828, his father held the licence as publican of the Wilberforce Hotel. [3]

Jacob married Elizabeth Maskey on 28th June 1842 at Wilberforce, New South Wales (Australia). [4] Soon afterward, they settled at Maitland, in New South Wales' Hunter Valley.

Having been widowered for 24 years, he passed away, aged 85 years, on 22nd October 1905 at Newcastle, New South Wales and was buried in the Campbell's Hill Cemetery. [5]
