Dennis,

Just a reminder to use reliable sources for Pre-1700 profiles.

A family tree is not a reliable source for a pre-1700 profile. Although not in the location where you are working, this does have a list of generally non reliable sources. (Note that the family tree for Morrison-17926 has nothing other than IGI). Here's a list of reliable (and unreliable) sources for Scotland

Dennis, it is uncertain when my ancestor John Lilly (1774-) died. All my sources say he fought in the war of 1812 and died of yellow fever in New Orleans. Some say he died at or around that time or later including your 1864 date. But I have not found any source documents that prove when he died or where. I have not found his grave. If you have any source materials that prove where and when he died, I am very interested.

Hello Denis,

When creating pre-1700 profiles like Charity (Sparrow) Tydings (abt.1640-abt.1687), Richard Tydings (abt.1625-1686), Thomas Sparrow (abt.1620-abt.1717), and Elizabeth (Kinsey) Sparrow (abt.1615-1715), find-a-grave, is only considered a reliable source when it contains a picture of the gravestone indicating source information about the person, otherwise, it is just another public tree on the web which is not considered reliable. For Richard, it happened to reference a book which I cited for him, but for Charity, there is no source information, so Charity remains unsourced.

If you need help finding sources, the US Southern Colonies project is a good place to start.

Thanks.

Hi Dennis! I haven't heard back regarding the Scotland Project check-in. I hope you are well and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

Hi Dennis; I wish we could just delete it? Is it attached to anyone at all (sponsor/researcher)? If not, and you can, delete it... Charlie

Hello Dennis;

RE your proposed merger today of two Robert Fentons, I am not sure this is really needed or wise as I hardly see any details on one of the Robert Fenton in order to tell if they are the same. There are potentially thousands of Robert Fentons out there that are not related. I you know for sure that the Robert Fenton without any data is a false person or you are definitely sure is a duplicate, then go ahead. Otherwise, it won't hurt to leave them un-merged. Thanks, Charlie

Hi Charles,

I'm OK with it either way. However, given the fact that one has no other information than the name I don't see a value in that profile remaining! Your call. After all, it is a Fenton profile! Ha! Thanks, Dennis

Hello Dennis,

My name is Sarah and I’m the Project Coordinator for the Scotland Project. As you may have heard, we have merged the Scottish Clans project into the Scotland Project. I am contacting you today to find out if you are interested in continuing with us under this new format. If you would like to go forward on the Scottish Clans Team, please reply and let me know which clans you have been working on or would like to work on. I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Monroe Carmichael: I added to his profile and linked him to Archibald. Monroe's profile already had the grave and census info, which made it easy. The 1910 census shows a son Monroe 13. Nice to see family names carried down like this.
Hi Dennis,

I haven’t heard back from you about the break up of the United Kingdom Project. I hope all is well with you. I assume you don’t wish to join any of the country-level projects at present, and will go ahead and remove the United Kingdom badge. If you wish to join England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland in the future, you would be most welcome to do so via the respective G2G sign-up post.

Many thanks for all your contributions,

Susie :-)

Hi Dennis,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi, there is a merge waiting for approval from you; can you approve it? If so, please do. For some background on the profile, there is a G2G thread:

Hi Denis. Can you take a look at Henry Duke of Warwick please? There are different years given for his death in the sources. I think perhaps the calendar of patent rolls clearly make his death 1445 not 1446. What do you think?

Hi Dennis,

Robin shared this After Adopting Orphans FAQ with you which explains the special attention those profiles need.

You've just adopted more profiles and now have more than 200 profiles which are unsourced. Please don't adopt anymore until you have shown these profiles the love they deserve.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi Dennis and thanks for your message.

I've added the UK and Scottish Clans Project badges to your profile. If you click on each badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on United Kingdom Project will take you the first page of the project. Scroll down to participants. I've added your good self and your Country of interest etc. I've also added you to the Scotland Project member interests pages.

I've done likewise for the Scottish Clans Project

Thanks for joining, enjoy and good luck with your research.

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans to understand what to do next. With over 175 unsourced profiles, please take this opportunity to work on those profiles before adopting additional profiles. Thanks so much!

The only difference between the two profiles is the wife of Lt. Benjamin McIntosh. That is not much of difference, just a different middle name.
