Biography
Sarah's birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1856 in the Stourbridge district.[1]
1881 Census has Sarah (age 24) in Wynn Street, Birmingham. She is described as a dressmaker. She is living with her sister Annie Stokes, who is a widow. Also with her at the same address is her sister Eliza (age 21) who is also a dressmaker.
She married Thomas King in 1883.
She died in 1898, Family story is that she died giving birth to her daughter Frances May King. Frances was subsequently "adopted" by Mortimer Tavner and his wife Sarah, who lived opposite them. Mortimer Tavner was a police constable in the Metropolitan Police.
